Statement Issued on Locusts Spotted in Absheron (PHOTOS)

The situation regarding the locusts observed in the Absheron area is fully under the control of the Agricultural Services Agency.

This was announced by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture in a statement to Qaynarinfo.

According to the ministry, the Agricultural Services Agency has recently received reports of large numbers of locusts being observed across the Absheron Peninsula, particularly in coastal areas.

In response, specialists from the Agency's Plant Protection and Fumigation Center were immediately dispatched to the affected locations to conduct field inspections and monitoring activities.

According to experts, this phenomenon is directly linked to the sharp climate changes observed in recent years. As global and regional climate conditions continue to change, many living organisms—including locusts—are migrating in large numbers to new geographic areas.

The Agricultural Services Agency stated that intensive chemical control measures against the locusts are currently being carried out in the affected areas. The situation remains fully under control.
